ANA NH865 Tokyo Haneda–Seoul Gimpo B767 Review (KrisFlyer Redemption)
Hello, today I’m sharing my flight review of All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight NH865 from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Seoul Gimpo (GMP), taken in July 2026.
The Haneda–Gimpo shuttle is widely recognized as a premium business corridor connecting the hearts of Tokyo and Seoul. Because cash fares on this route are typically steep, I used Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles for a Star Alliance redemption. Below is my detailed journey covering the booking process, the tranquil Haneda Terminal 2 international facility, the Power Lounge shower experience, and flying aboard the classic Boeing 767-300ER.
Booking with Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles
I booked this award seat directly through Singapore Airlines’ official website.

The total cost was 13,500 KrisFlyer miles plus approximately 60,000 KRW (around $45 USD) in taxes and surcharges. Given that one-way cash tickets on this city-center route often exceed $250–$300 USD, this award redemption offered superb value.
As a full-service Star Alliance member carrier, ANA includes two complimentary 23kg checked bags even in economy class—an invaluable perk when returning from a shopping-heavy trip to Tokyo.
Tokyo Haneda Airport Terminal 2: Calm & Breezy
I took the Tokyo Monorail from central Tokyo straight to Haneda Airport Terminal 2 (T2).

While most international departures operate out of the crowded Terminal 3, ANA’s international gates at Terminal 2 offer an entirely different atmosphere. The check-in concourse features sleek self-service bag drop stations and feels almost like a private terminal dedicated exclusively to ANA.

Despite arriving around two hours prior to departure, the terminal was remarkably quiet—I saw barely one person every ten minutes. With virtually zero lines, security screening and passport control took less than five minutes combined. Clearing departures without any crowds was a refreshing start to the trip.

Once airside, you immediately encounter the duty-free retail section. Because the international wing of Terminal 2 is relatively compact, the selection of shops is limited and several storefronts were closed. If you have serious shopping planned, I strongly advise picking up your souvenirs and luxury goods in downtown Tokyo beforehand.

Boarding gate NH865 was located on the lower level, accessible via a short escalator ride down.
Power Lounge & Complimentary Shower
With plenty of time before boarding and having walked under the humid Tokyo summer sun, I visited the Power Lounge, accessible via The Lounge app or partnered credit cards.

The Power Lounge is situated directly opposite the immigration exit, making it exceptionally convenient. At the reception desk, I asked if a shower room was available; the staff member immediately provided a private key, a fresh towel set, and a warm smile.

The shower room was impeccably clean, well-stocked with fluffy towels, and maintained to spotless Japanese hygiene standards. Taking a hot shower before the flight washed away all travel fatigue.

Returning to the main lounge hall, the seating was spacious and peacefully quiet. The food counter offered steamed Japanese rice, savory curry, grilled salmon steaks, crispy chicken karaage, and a selection of teas and chilled beverages.

I assembled a plate of curry rice with salmon and chicken. The flavors were surprisingly rich and comforting—far superior to typical contract lounge offerings.
Boarding Flight NH865
Feeling refreshed, I strolled over to the boarding gate as departure time approached.

The gate corridor was wide, bright, and completely uncrowded.

I had my digital boarding pass ready on my phone while waiting for boarding to commence.

Parked outside the window was our aircraft: an ANA Boeing 767-300ER. With modern fleets increasingly dominated by the 787 and A350, opportunities to fly the venerable 767 widebody are becoming rare. Having never flown on a 767 before, I deliberately picked this specific flight number just to experience the airframe.

Once in my seat, I pulled out the safety card from the seatback pocket to confirm the 767-300ER registration.
Cabin & Flight Experience
Stepping inside the aircraft, the cabin layout and seating arrangement became apparent.

While the cabin interior showed its age, ANA’s meticulous maintenance kept every surface clean and well-kept. The 767 features a 2-4-2 seating configuration. Compared to cramped 3-3-3 or 3-4-3 layouts on larger widebodies, having only two seats by the window ensures unmatched privacy and easy aisle access without having to climb over multiple strangers.

Looking out the window past the classic wing design, we taxied smoothly toward the runway.

Despite the older airframe, in-flight Wi-Fi was available on board, making it simple to send quick messages and review arrival travel plans.

Shortly after reaching cruising altitude, the cabin crew served a complimentary hot meal. Even on a short flight of barely two hours, ANA provided a full hot tray featuring flavorful Japanese seasoning, rice, and side dishes. It tasted delicious and was thoroughly satisfying.

After finishing lunch, the window revealed crystal-clear blue skies and puffy white clouds at cruising altitude.

Sitting in a two-seat row made the entire flight feel leisurely and roomy.
Arrival at Seoul Gimpo
Before long, the captain announced our initial descent into the Seoul metropolitan area.

We glided smoothly over the Han River and city skyline on final approach to Gimpo International Airport.

We touched down safely right on schedule.
The single biggest selling point of the Haneda–Gimpo route is downtown proximity. Within 15 minutes of clearing immigration and customs, I walked onto the subway platform (Subway Lines 5, 9 Express, and the Airport Railroad AREX) and arrived at my doorstep in central Seoul in just 40 minutes. Compared to travelling via Incheon Airport (ICN), this downtown-to-downtown connection saves at least two full hours of ground transit round-trip.
Summary & Verdict
Pros
- Unmatched Tranquility at Haneda T2: The international facility is blissfully uncrowded; clearing security and customs in under five minutes was effortless.
- Power Lounge Amenities: Free hot showers and a tasty warm meal (Japanese curry & salmon) offered the perfect pre-flight refresh.
- Comfortable 2-4-2 Layout & Warm Meal: Two-abreast window seating provides great comfort, backed by a generous hot meal service on a short flight.
- City-Center Convenience: Flying between Haneda and Gimpo eliminates transit stress and maximizes sightseeing or business hours.
Cons
- Limited Duty-Free Shopping: Haneda T2’s retail selection is very small; complete all souvenir shopping in downtown Tokyo.
- Vintage Interior: The 767 is an older airframe, so IFE screens and cabin fixtures feel distinctly retro compared to modern 787s.
Recommended For
- Travelers who want to maximize their time in downtown Tokyo and Seoul without wasting hours commuting to distant hubs.
- Anyone looking to redeem Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles for high-value Star Alliance partner flights.
- Those who appreciate calm, queue-free airport procedures over massive shopping malls.
