Check the airport code before planning a trip to Mumbai. BOM is the existing Mumbai airport; NMI is Navi Mumbai International Airport. They are separate airports. On 5 October, Navi Mumbai’s operator announced new bus services and fares. Official transport announcement
Bus services from 7 October
MSRTC’s e-Shivai electric buses are scheduled to start on 7 October 2026. The announcement lists these fares from Navi Mumbai airport, in Indian rupees.
| Destination | Fare from the airport | Announced route or frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Dadar East | ₹170 | Via Sion and Atal Setu |
| Borivali | ₹210 | Via existing Mumbai airport T1, Bandra and Atal Setu |
| Pune | ₹450 | Twice daily: one morning and one afternoon service |
Exact departure times were not supplied. Check a timetable against your flight arrival before relying on the bus. With only two Pune departures, a delayed flight could mean a long wait.
The release also describes half fares for children under 12 and women travelling with an NCMC card. It does not explain whether children need a card or how foreign visitors qualify. Confirm eligibility with the operator rather than assuming an ordinary payment card receives the discount.
Local connections and the airport shuttle
The operator says NMMT routes A1–A7 connect airport T1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office. The stated 15–20-minute peak interval applies to Belapur and Nerul services, not every route throughout the day.
If using rail, check the final connection to the terminal as well. A station listed in the transport announcement does not establish a direct train into the terminal. Compare the nearest stop with your hotel address and consider where you would change services with luggage.
An hourly, free inter-airport shuttle is also planned. The announcement gives no start date, stop locations or journey time. Verify these before booking a tight connection between the two airports.
Checks before using the existing airport
A separate 3 October release identifies the redevelopment area as the north section of Terminal 1B at the existing airport and gives January 2027 as the start of T1 redevelopment. It describes temporary relocation as an airline choice; it does not confirm that your flight will move. Redevelopment announcement
| Item | What to check |
|---|---|
| Ticket | Whether departure and arrival show BOM or NMI |
| Terminal | Airport name as well as terminal; “T1” alone is insufficient |
| Bus | Actual operation, travel-date timetable and boarding point |
| Airport transfer | Whether the free shuttle is running, plus its stops and journey time |
Check the airline’s flight status and airport information first, then choose the route to your hotel. This order is a planning suggestion, not an operator requirement.
Official sources and check date
Checked on 6 October 2026, before the announced bus launch. Exact bus timetables and the shuttle start date still need confirmation.
